Dawson Family December 2010 Newsletter

Hey, everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas; we certainly did. The whole month of December has been great for C3 and the students we serve. We increased our number of students reached through outreaches from last month and had great conversations along the way. Here is just one of the stories from the 20 school visits this month.

I brought pizza to a school lunch to celebrate Christmas and talk about the meaning of Jesus being born. Firstly, I gathered the 10 students that I knew in the cafeteria. The students, in turn, gathered about 20 more of their friends for "pizza and talk about Jesus". Then, the 30 of us circled together and I started to ask them about who Jesus is. We read Isaiah 9:6 where Jesus is called "Mighty God" and "Everlasting Father". Many of the students expressed surprise that Jesus is God. So we read John 1:1-4 where Jesus is clearly God's son and God himself. We discussed how Jesus being God affects everything in our lives. After answering a lot of deep questions I prayed for the students, inviting them back to C3, church, and to speak with me more personally.

Right after I finished and students were talking amongst themselves, a student ran up to me, let's call him Jimmy, and said, "I heard you were talking about Jesus. Please tell me what you said." He hadn't been there for the talk so we spoke about Jesus being "Mighty God" and "Everlasting Father". He asked about the need for God to become a man, why do we serve God, and the reality of hell. We spoke until the class bell rang. I invited him for further conversation and he said to me, "What you wanted to accomplish in this conversation, you did." After that, he ran to class so he wouldn't be late.

Thank you for your investment in these kids, in C3, and in my family. When situations like the one with Jimmy occur I thank Jesus for you and your support.

Happy New Year,

Adam Dawson

Personal Update

Adam and Elizabeth are doing great. We are still looking for a house, hosting church groups, leading discipleship with adults and students. Jeremiah, 10 months, is crawling, pulling up, and yelling in accordance with Dawson Boy tradition. Aidan is speaking more intelligibly, including phrases like, "I love Buzz Lightyear" and "Who wants a cookie? I do!". Jilas loves superheroes and rightly believes that Jesus is the best superhero.
